Penelope Worley |
I was born in north Georgia on December 16, 1955. Growing up at the foot of the Appalachian Trail was an extraordinary experience. The beauty and abundance of animal life gave me a sense of wonder about the natural world and no doubt contributed to my early interest in the healing arts, offering me many healing experiences there with animals, the elderly, and young children. ![]()
After surviving a near fatal heart virus, my attention turned toward metaphysics and finding my inner voice, which continues to speak loudly in my ear.
I was called to visit Egypt and traveled from one end of the Nile to the other, experiencing floods of memories.
I have visited other power spots including Chichen Itza, Jerusalem, the Acropolis of Greece, Ankgor Wat in Cambodia and Vatican City, where I have always found myself in the company of shamanic healers who, seeing my open heart, have opened themselves, allowing me a glimpse of their teaching.
Having been a successful salon owner in Mill Valley, California, and for 15 years facilitating group studies, meditation classes, ancient healing arts, and practicing spiritual outreach, the next step in my life has become clear to me:

I was born abroad, an army baby, on July 14th, 1966 in Frankfurt, Germany. After six months, we moved to Vicenza, Italy, where we lived for 1½ years before returning home to Chicago, IL and finally migrating to the shores of southern California. My father was en route to becoming a physician and my mother was an artist and dancer. After five carefree years of sun and surf, my parents separated and relocated to opposite ends of Marin County, in northern California.
Though I did see my father, my younger brother and I were predominantly raised by my mother and our older sister. This put me more in touch with my emotional and artistic natures. Though skilled in sports, I never developed the masculine aggression or “killer instinct” necessary for greater success. In retrospect, I’m glad of this, for it has allowed me to move in what I now believe is a more deeply rewarding direction.
I have been on a spiritual quest for as long as I can remember. Questions such as, “what is my true purpose?” and “does God exist?” have driven me to climb mountains, winter in a snow cave, hang on the precipice of cliffs, read spiritual and philosophical books, and leave a job suddenly after selling my possessions to follow a spiritual teacher. At the time, I was unable to ground the powerful energy I had received through working with this teacher. Engaging in some destructive “old behavior” led to a ski accident that, had it not been for spiritual intervention, would likely have taken me out.
The accident landed me back in Mill Valley, CA, where I met my wife, Penelope. It seems we were destined to find each other. We have many experiences and beliefs in common. To be of service to our fellow beings and our world is our heart’s desire. While working as a hairstylist, I studied the basics of filmmaking, so that we could begin to document the experiences of our quest. We are both drawn to ancient healing practices and natural, holistic medicine, and we look to cultural wisdom around the globe for answers to today’s perplexities. |
