A brief history of the Maya

The ancient Maya occupied southern Mexico, Belize, Honduras and Guatemala. By the beginning of their great classical period (AD 200-600), the Maya had a written language, sophisticated astronomy, and architecturally beautiful, well planned city-states. The collapse of the Mayan empire, at around 900AD, is still not well understood by historians. The ancient Mayan world was one of science, ceremony, and mystery. Their lives were intertwined with the seasons, the stars, and all of the cycles of the natural world. Many speculate that the ancient Maya came from Atlantis.

Even a carving was found, depicting Mayans rowing away amidst a distant volcanic eruption. There are also many strong parallels that link them with the ancient Egyptians.What remain today are impressive stone structures that have been reclaimed from the jungle and depict a very advanced civilization. Many theories suggest that the Maya abandoned their great cities and disappeared. Yet they are still there. They live in modern cities and traditional villages. Some still speak in the old tongue and practice the ancient healing techniques. Many don't have access to "modern" or "western" medicine, and still they live healthy, happy lives. Their knowledge and practice of plant medicine, ritual ceremonies, and meditation are an inspiration for those of us who are seeking alternative solutions to today's problems.

We've listened to our hearts, and searched for a brotherhood of man. Join us on our journey, as we recount our adventure and include you as a participant as the story unfolds before your eyes. Come with us and share our experience. We are on a quest for knowledge to understand the tools for living given to us by the ancients, now coming to the fore front. The Mayan prophecies predicted a time when modern man would return to the ancient knowledge to help us through the times ahead as we approach the conclusion of the Fourth World of Creation and begin the transformation into the Fifth World, the new age, set to begin December 23, 2012.
